Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Steamboat Honey Company honey different?

Our honey is crafted in small batches using raw, unfiltered honey and thoughtfully selected ingredients. We use real fruits, peppers, spices, cacao, vanilla and other ingredients to create bold flavors without relying on artificial flavors or shortcuts.

What is infused honey?

Infused honey combines honey with ingredients such as fruit, peppers, spices, herbs or cacao to create new flavors. Steamboat Honey Company makes both sweet and savory-inspired infusions designed for everything from toast and cheese boards to cooking, cocktails and desserts.

What is creamed honey?

Creamed honey is honey with a smooth, spreadable texture created through controlled crystallization. Despite the name, it doesn't mean dairy or cream has been added. Our creamed honeys pair that silky texture with flavors like Palisade Peach, Triple Crown Blackberry and Key Lime Zest.

Is your honey raw and unfiltered?

Our honey creations begin with raw, unfiltered honey. We believe great infused honey starts with great honey, then gets even better with thoughtfully chosen ingredients.

Where is Steamboat Honey Company honey made?

Our honey is crafted in small batches in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Steamboat Honey Company was founded by beekeeper Bethany Karulak to share a more creative, culinary side of honey.

How can I use infused honey?

Pretty much anywhere you want a little more flavor. Drizzle it over cheese, pizza, biscuits or yogurt. Spread it on toast. Add it to marinades and glazes. Stir it into tea or coffee. Use it in desserts or cocktails. Or grab a spoon—we're not judging.

Which honey should I try first?

For something smooth and fruity, start with Palisade Peach or Triple Crown Blackberry. Want some heat? Try Mango Habanero. If you like sweet, salty, chocolatey and spicy all at once, Salted Ghost Pepper Cacao brings the adventure.

Does real honey crystallize?

Yes. Crystallization is a natural process and can happen to real honey over time. It doesn't mean your honey has gone bad. Texture and color may also vary slightly from batch to batch because honey is a natural product.
